Greenhouse guide / 01

Greenhouse gardening
starts with climate control.

For a first greenhouse, keep the job simple: observe heat and moisture, move air, and keep the space clean before adding more crops.

01

Open before heat builds

Use a thermometer and vent before midday heat accumulates. A greenhouse can overheat quickly even when outdoor temperatures feel mild.

02

Move air on purpose

Use vents and gentle circulation so foliage dries and cold or humid pockets do not linger.

03

Water the root zone early

Check moisture below the surface, then water in the morning so leaves and benches can dry before night.

04

Keep the space clean

Remove spent material, inspect new plants before bringing them in, and clean trays and pots between crops.

05

Choose a seasonal job

A greenhouse changes timing; it does not eliminate light, temperature, spacing, or pest pressure.

This guide is a starting checklist, not a greenhouse climate-control system or pest diagnosis. Use a thermometer, follow equipment instructions, and check local Extension guidance for your crop and climate.
